Kingfisher Sluice is located on the West Bank of the tidal River Stour on the northern boundary of the old Richborough Port near Sandwich. The site features tidal working and restricted access for heavy plant. The bank opposite the site is also an internationally designated Ramsar, SAR, SSSI area.
The project included:
- Decommissioning of the existing sluice and construction of a new outfall system
- Detailed design of the new structure
- Construction of the new headwall, concrete apron and wing walls on the outlet
- Access to the channel for maintenance and inspection
