Walton on Thames Bank Protection

The riverside path at Walton on Thames is a busy recreational area, used by pedestrians, cyclists and those requiring access to their boats and various rowing clubs.

The path and bank required work to stop them being washed away by scouring from water movement.

The works involved:

  • The replacement of 40m of mass concrete river wall with a gabion basket wall
  • The construction of 12m length of mass concrete river wall adjacent to and upstream of the Skiff Club
  • Underpinning of a short section of existing concrete wall at the upstream end of the works
