This project saw the replacement of Rye Harbour Visitor’s Reception Jetty. The existing timber structure was old and dilapidated and had to be removed.
The new structure was constructed from driven greenheart piles and ekki walers, crossheads and braces.
Walkways were Marinadeck minimesh, a non-slip open-mesh fibre glass decking with galvanised steel hand rails.
The jetty was built on approximately the same footprint as the existing jetty which was demolished as work progressed.
The new structure is stronger than the old due to modern design codes. It also has a higher deck than the old structure so that it does not become awash during high spring tides.
