Mackley has finished work on Yalding Lifting Bridge, Kent. The refurbishment was fully funded by the Environment Agency and involved a combination of re-painting, resurfacing and the installation of new hydraulics and traffic barriers on a bridge that had reached the end of its life and was no longer safe to use.
“Well done for the diligent work undertaken by Mackley on weekly/daily communications with affected residents and to the site team on their interactions with folk. This has been textbook, how this should be done”.
Peter Toms, Environment Agency
The works, led by Mackley Project Manager, Joe Granger, were particularly complicated because the bridge offered the only access to a private lane with several residences and a popular pub. Mackley worked closely with the Environment Agency, the pub, the local residents, the Council and Emergency Services to ensure there were regular updates about the progress of the work, as well as mitigation plans for the dates in which it had to be closed for resurfacing.
Another excellent example of collaborative working!
“We are delighted with the smart new bridge, we will miss the orange jacket team, will you please thank them for their kindness and willingness to help us in the lane.”
Resident, Parsonage Lane.
