Donation helps local charity tackle homelessness

Mackley has donated a range of items to a local charity in an effort to help local homeless people over the forthcoming festive period.

The Worthing Churches Homeless Project helps more than 1,000 people each year, providing a range of services including a day centre and four accommodation centres.

On any one night, there are up to 58 people in its accommodation. The charity works with them on a one-to-one basis to enable them to live independently once again.

Working in partnership with local company Core Cleaning Services, the Worthing Churches Homeless Project is collecting and distributing practical items including torches and batteries, underwear, men’s gloves and long johns. A full list of items is available at the foot of this story.

THANK YOU to Mackley Construction who have just donated loads of stuff for the Worthing Homeless Advent Collection! You…

Among the items donated by Mackley yesterday (14 Dec) were coats, hats, food, diaries and mugs.

Following the donation, Mackley received a ‘big thanks’ from Core Cleaning Services, who said the donation had ‘doubled’ the number of items they had received so far.

David Knapp, Mackley’s Business Development Manager, said: “We are committed to working in partnership with the people who live in the areas where we operate, and support a wide range of local charities and community initiatives.

“Homelessness is a real problem right across the country, especially at this time of year when the temperatures regularly drop to below freezing.

“We can all do our bit at this time of year by making donations, no matter what size, to help those less fortunate. We urge people to support the Worthing Homeless Project and the vital work they do.”

Donations can be dropped off at the Core Cleaning Services’ offices in Marlborough Rd, Lancing before 24 December, or arrangements can be made to collect items. For more information contact Alan at Core Cleaning Services on 01903 763100.
