A primary school in Shoreham has expressed its gratitude to Mackley for supporting its fundraising efforts.
Mackley has donated £500 towards Shoreham Beach Primary School’s upcoming Christmas Fayre – as well as supplying a replacement laptop for the school hall.
The fayre takes place at the school on 24 November with the aim of raising funds for the school, the priority being the replacement of ageing computer equipment and whiteboards.
The laptop donated by Mackley will be used for school assemblies.
Mackley is currently working in Shoreham on a flood defence scheme which when complete will significantly reduce flood risk to more than 2,300 properties in Shoreham and East Lancing.
The project is on schedule for completion by the end of 2018.
David Knapp, Mackley’s Business Development Manager, said:
“We are committed to working in partnership with the people who live and work in the areas where we operate, and we support a wide range of local charities and community initiatives.
“We are delighted to make this donation to Shoreham Beach Primary School – and we’re sure the upcoming Christmas Fayre will turn out to be a great success.”
Dr Alison Moore, Treasurer of the Shoreham Beach Primary School PTFA, said:
“As a small single form entry school serving the community of Shoreham Beach, resources are limited, particularly in these times of financial restrictions being faced by many state services.
“The school lost three teaching assistants over the summer due to budget cuts, and will face more difficult decisions over the months and years to come.
“The PTFA is a registered charity which holds events throughout the year to support the school, and increasingly we are having to provide essential facilities (rather than luxuries) for the children and staff. Last year we helped fund vital playground equipment; this year we are replacing the ageing computer equipment and whiteboards.
“We are highly dependent on local businesses and companies for their support, as there is only so much we can ask of our families, especially as a small school.
“Your kind donation will make a huge difference to everyone at Shoreham Beach Primary School, and enable us to purchase new equipment much sooner than we had planned.”
