Mackley is supporting World Mental Health Day 2018 – which this year focuses on young people and mental health in a changing world.
Organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO), World Mental Health Day 2018 takes place on 10 October.
In support, Mackley will be selling green ribbon pin badges from reception and the project office at the Shoreham Adur Tidal Walls scheme.
Recognising the importance of mental health, Mackley has also introduced five mental health first aiders who are available to offer support to colleagues (poster pictured right).
David Knapp, Mackley’s Business Development Manager, said:
“Young adults are at an age when serious mental illnesses can occur – and yet they are taught little or nothing about mental health.
“We expect our young people to grow up strong, resilient and able to break the cycles of abuse, violence, substance use, and internet overload. But what happens when a young person experiences trauma – where are the services? Where is the information they need to increase their awareness of mental well-being?
“This issue is not limited to young people. We all have stress in our lives that, for the majority of the time, we are able to cope with – but increasingly some people need help.
“At Mackley we recognise these issues and consequently have introduced five mental health first aiders who are available to offer support to any member of the workforce who feel they need it.”
