Initially based at our Portsmouth naval base, the Graduate Site Engineer role is normally an initial step into a career in Civil Engineering and Construction. It is the opportunity to learn from the site experience and gain knowledge and understanding in how work is constructed, organised and controlled. The Senior Engineer and Site Manager are responsible for briefing and overseeing their activities and the Site Engineer must ensure that tasks are explained and checked until a basic and consistent level of competence is achieved. Responsible for all recruitment and use of agency labour, including ensuring the adoption of appropriate labour supply agreements as approved by the commercial team. Liaison with the Area Managers to smooth resources and to prioritise based on business need. Maximise use of internal labour, develop staff and work with HR to manage training and operational qualifications. Step in to trouble shoot operational challenges on projects and support the site teams where required.

Responsible for improving coordination and consistency across our plant operations. This includes overseeing the flow of activity across delivery, movement, servicing, hire, and stores functions. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the role ensures that day to day operations run efficiently, reliably, and with minimal friction. This is a hands on, connective role – supporting team activity, aligning priorities, and acting as a key liaison where departmental responsibilities overlap. From driving clearer communication to unblocking bottlenecks, the Plant Operations Lead plays a crucial part in keeping the department moving while enabling longer term improvements to take shape.
