Mackley is supporting a charity trip that will see items such as pens, pencils and books donated to a school in Kenya.
Shannon Tetrault, niece of Mackley’s Payroll and HR Assistant Sarah Wilcock, will make the trip to the town of Nakuru in April 2018 as part of a group of 14 young people.
As well as taking equipment, Shannon will teach children from families that cannot afford education and help build classrooms and toilet blocks and install running water supplies.
Mackley is sponsoring Shannon and the group – who to date have raised more than £1,500. Click here to visit the Go Fund Me page for more information or to make a donation.
Heidi Tetrault, Shannon’s mother, said:
“It is going to be a challenging and probably emotional journey but rewarding, and hopefully a real eye opener to what the children have here, compared to these children who have nothing.
“Shannon is extremely grateful for Mackley’s sponsorship. She still has a long way to go so we have started a go fund me page to try and help us reach our target.”
David Knapp, Mackley’s Business Development Manager, said:
“At Mackley, we are committed to working in partnership with the people who live and work in the areas where we operate, and we support a wide range of local charities and community initiatives.
“When we found out about Shannon’s trip, and the good it would do for less fortunate children in Kenya, we were only too happy to help through sponsorship.”
