Guided walks around Shoreham flood defence scheme

Mackley Shoreham

A series of free guided walks around the Shoreham Adur Tidal Walls flood defence scheme, organised by Mackley, will take place over the summer months.

The Shoreham Adur Tidal Walls scheme is being carried out by Mackley, working as part of Team Van Oord and on behalf of the Environment Agency, Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership, Adur District Council and West Sussex County Council.

Work on site commenced in October 2016, and when complete the scheme will significantly reduce flood risk to more than 2,300 properties in Shoreham and East Lancing, as well as protecting important local infrastructure such as the road network, railway line and Shoreham Airport.

Over the summer months there will be a series of walks around the scheme accompanied by members of the project team, providing a unique opportunity to find out more about the work involved in delivering the £32m scheme.

The walks, which commence at 10am and last around two hours, will take place on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 5 June
  • Tuesday 3 July
  • Tuesday 14 August
  • Tuesday 4 September

Booking
The guided walks are free, but numbers are limited and therefore booking is essential. To book a place on one of the walks please email Angela Spinks, stating your name and address, your preferred date and details of any specific requirements. Once your booking has been confirmed, you will receive joining instructions.
