Mackley supports Children’s Respite Trust

Access to a respite facility for disabled children and their families has been improved, after Mackley donated a quantity of ‘grass grids’ to a charity.

The Children’s Respite Trust provides respite for disabled children – and support for their families – in East Sussex and parts of West Sussex, Brighton and Hove, Surrey and Kent.

The children looked after by the Trust are some of the most unwell, whose care needs are often 24/7.

Respite is about giving their families a much-needed break and a chance to do the things that the rest of us take for granted, while ensuring the children themselves have the best time possible.

Patrons include the cricketer Luke Wright, actress Sandra Huggett, ice-skater Jayne Torvill OBE and musician Roger Daltrey CBE.

The donation of 130 grass grids – which reduce or eliminate the issue of ground churning by heavy foot traffic or vehicles – was made earlier this month, and will be used to improve the condition of the Trust’s car parking facilities.

David Knapp, Mackley’s Business Development Manager, said: “Mackley is committed to working in partnership with the people who live and work in the areas where we operate, and we support a wide range of local charities and community initiatives.

“We’re delighted to support the Children’s Respite Trust, which provides invaluable support for disabled children and their families in East Sussex and the surrounding area.

“These grass grids will enhance the quality of the Trust’s car park and improve access for visitors.”
