Mackley has recently completed a series of works at one of the three RNLI lifeboat stations on the Isle of Wight.
Founded in 1867, Bembridge Lifeboat Station is located on eastern end of the island, adjacent to the infamous Bembridge Ledge.
It is home to a Tamar class all-weather lifeboat, Alfred Albert Williams, and a D class inshore lifeboat, Norman Harvey.
The works consisted of high pressure jetting all of the support piles down to bare metal and then repainting with three coats of paint.
Mackley also constructed concrete plinths at the base of the outer piles – and sealed concrete to the piles on the main walkway.
Works were tidal and as the lifeboat station is located in a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), each section had to be enclosed to prevent the risk of any pollution.
Works were completed on time and within budget.
The RNLI is the largest charity that saves lives at sea around the coasts of the United Kingdom. Its lifeboat crews aided an average of 22 people a day in 2017.
