In the UK, men are more likely to die by suicide than women and in 2020 a report by the Chartered Institute of Building stated that 26% of construction industry professionals thought about taking their own lives the previous year.
With a significant number of male employees at Mackley, mental health and the wellbeing of our workforce is a core value.
Today marks #TimeToTalk Day, a UK campaign run by #Mind and #Rethink Mental Illness in England which we are proud to be backing. This helps raise awareness of the importance of starting those conversations with colleagues, friends and family about mental health and creating supportive communities.
To promote #TimeToTalk Day our qualified Mental Health First Aiders will be visiting every Mackley site, our office and plant yard to encourage conversations about mental health to reduce the stigma and help people feel empowered to seek further help if they feel it is needed.
