2018 looks set to be another busy year for Mackley’s marketing and business development teams, with participation in a number of important industry events already confirmed.

The events, which take place across the country, cover a range of civil engineering disciplines relating to flood prevention and coastal defence.

The first event of a busy January is ‘Flood Disaster Management Conference: Building resilience’, which takes place at the University of Salford later this week (17 Jan).

This one-day event, at which Mackley is exhibiting, will see leading experts explain how communities can build resilience against the threat of flooding and climate change.

The following day (18 Jan), Mackley will be represented at Coastal Futures 2018, which takes place at the Royal Geographical Society, London.

This event will bring together professionals from different sectors to discuss important developments and concerns surrounding Britain’s coastline. Speakers will examine the environmental changes that are causing concern, and actions being taken to address these.

On 31 January, Mackley will attend the Coastal Development Seminar in London – organised by construction law firm Ashfords LLP and National Maritime (NMDG).

This event will examine the complex development consents required for a large scale coastal development, with a focus on securing consents in a timely and cost efficient manner.

In March, Mackley will once again attend Flood & Coast (20-22 March) at the Telford International Centre.

Flood and Coast advances the debate between government bodies and local authorities about flood and coast erosion risk, resilience and response.

Under the theme ‘a changing climate’, the 2018 event will draw on expertise and experience from different geographies as well as across the UK.

On 10 May, Mackley is attending the Water Industry Asset Management Conference at the Birmingham Conference and Events Centre.

The event is the only industry event for senior asset management, capital delivery, supply chain and procurement leaders within water companies and tier 1 contractors.

In June, Mackley is the main sponsor of an interactive one-day event designed to celebrate, and raise the profile of, young people’s achievements in science and engineering.

The Big Bang Fair South East takes place at the Ardingly Showground, West Sussex on 27 June and is organised to encourage more young people to get involved in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) initiatives.

Mackley will also be exhibiting at the event.

Later in the year, Mackley will also participate in the 2018 Flood Expo at London’s Excel (10-11 Oct).

Flood Expo is the world’s largest exhibition and conference designed to help progressive flood professionals and property owners discover the latest innovations, services and strategies that transform the way flooding is predicted, prevented and managed.

Further events will be added to the Mackley calendar as attendance is confirmed.
