Floodex 2017 on the horizon

Mackley will use the 2017 edition of Floodex UK to continue to forge new links and strengthen existing relationships within the flood defence and water level management (WLM) sector.

Taking place at the Peterborough Arena on 17-18 May, Floodex UK is the trade event for the WLM sector, with a specific focus on flood defence, prevention, mitigation and drainage.

Floodex UK will be the second major industry event Mackley has attended this year, having recently been a bronze sponsor of Flood and Coast 2017 in Telford (28-30 March).

Now in its second year, Floodex UK provides two days of networking opportunities, bringing together leaders from local authorities, the Internal Drainage Board, engineering, design, contracting and planning.

The event features a full programme of seminars covering a wide range of issues including partnership working, funding and soil management. Among the presenters is the Environment Agency’s Director of Land and Water, Pete Fox.

There will also be a free health and safety awareness training programme, delivered by the Association of Drainage Authorities. Delivered over two mornings, the programme will define the roles and responsibilities of directors, board members and officers, and ensure operational staff have an understanding of their role and responsibility in delivering work safely.

The exhibition will feature more than 50 organisations including Mackley (stand N10, close to Theatre 2) and the Environment Agency.

Floodex UK will also receive a royal visit from HRH The Duke of Gloucester on Wednesday 17th May. His Royal Highness will meet exhibitors and attendees to discuss all matters related to drainage, water level management and flood risk management.

Dave Knapp, Mackley’s Business Development Manager, said: “We are very much looking forward to attending this important industry event, which presents an opportunity to forge new links and build on those created at previous events including Flood & Coast 2017.

“Protecting coastal communities from the risk of flooding is at the heart of our business and, based on our experiences at the inaugural Floodex UK in May 2016, this year’s two-day event promises to be productive and informative.”
