Team Van Oord (TVO) has topped the rankings in an annual sustainability assessment programme carried out by the Environment Agency.

The first consignment of of granite boulders arrived in Hastings last week (8 Nov) as Mackley gets underway with works to improve the historic Sussex town’s coastal defences.

Mackley, as part of Team Van Oord (TVO), will play a key role in the Government’s response to flooding incidents during winter 2016/17, as a result of collaborative arrangement between the EA and a number of its key Framework suppliers.

Members of RICS South East have been shown around the Shoreham Adur Tidal Walls Scheme in the latest of a series of visits to sites where Mackley is working on behalf of the Environment Agency.

A visit to the site of a flood prevention scheme in West Sussex provided a group of civil engineering students from the University of Brighton with a valuable glimpse of ‘what collaborative engineering work looks like’.

Mackley is supporting a new Environment Agency campaign designed to help protect the public against the dangers and consequences of flooding.

Sir James Bevan, Chief Executive Officer was among a delegation of senior managers from the Environment Agency who paid a visit to the site where Mackley has commenced work on a scheme to provide better protection from flooding for the residents of Shoreham-by-Sea.

A second party of students from the University of Brighton will visit the Clay’s Lake project in West Sussex next week, as part of Mackley’s latest initiative to provide aspiring civil engineers with real life experience.

Mackley is looking forward to participating in Flood Expo, the world’s leading flood exhibition and conference, which is taking place this week.

Mackley has been accepted as a member of the British Aviation Group (BAG), the leading representative body for UK companies involved in the airport and aviation development sector.
